For those of you who attended the PubMed class on Saturday you know I was able to take a candy making class Thursday evening at Cowtown Candy (http://www.cowtowncandy.com/) and had a great time. I am hoping to be able to post the recipes we were given if I can...

Sharon Brown and Joey Nicholson, the two NTCC trainers scheduled to join you all in Cody are anxiously awaiting more registrations for these classes. So far we have only three registered for PubMed and two for NLM Gateway. The cut-off date for cancellation of these classes is approximately September 8, 2008. Unless we have at least ten people enrolled we will not have the privilege of joining you all in Cody. That would sadden both of us very much.

Sharon and I will both be in Cody teaching these classes! If you haven't signed up already, use the link above to register. There are still plenty of seats, so even if you don't have time to register, feel free to stop by and join in!

I'm looking forward to your class. I tried to take it once before & it ended up being canceled. My department is on its 6th director in as many years, so I think this class will be quite useful for me.

This is very interesting! I grew up in Southern Montana about 200 miles from Cody in Absarokee Montana. My father, son of an original cowboy and an extraordinary cowpoke himself, say "Let'r Buck!" All of the time. Of course, his father attempted to join the Calvary in WWI at the age of 14 and could very well have been exposed to all of those Wild Wyominites at a very impressionable age. My understanding of the phrase is much more simplistic. My father uses it more as an expression of "turn it lose and see what happens!" Either way, it seems appropriate for a football team to "Let'r Buck!"

OK, Valerie, You know, of course, when the Wyoming committee stands up at the opening session and shouts "Powder River, Let'r Buck!" we expect you to join in too! "turn it lose and see what happens!" seems like a good way to start the conference as well!

Sharon Brown and Joey Nicholson will be the instructors for these classes. As you know, pubMed has several new features that were unveiled recently. In particular, the new ATM, citation sensor, and Advanced search are the three items that should, and probably will cause you to seek training even though you may have used PubMed for many years. Don't miss these information-rich classes taught by excellent instructors!

NLM/NTCC taught classes in Cody- The "new" PubMed
By: ,
May 30 2008, 1:55 PM EDT
I am so grateful to MCMLA, Mary Henning, Clare Hamatsu, Marty McGee and others for offering the opportunity to share your wide open spaces in Wyoming and allow Joey and I the chance to fill in some of the blanks about PubMed and NLM Gateway/Clinical Trials.
If there are any questions at all about the classes, the content, the way the instruction should unfold, or how things are going in NYC, please post them here. I would love to speak to any class participants before Oct so we can icebreak ahead of time.
October will be here before any of us can imagine.
